The Designer

Marilena Spiridigliozzi is a fashion designer and artist, founder of Mariel Couture, a haute couture and bridal maison born from the encounter between Italian sartorial tradition, art, and contemporary vision.

From a very young age, she showed a natural inclination for drawing and garment creation, which led her to study at the Professional Institute for Fashion Stylists in Frosinone. During her years of training, her creations received important recognition, culminating in the award of a national prize for her first wedding dress. After graduating with top marks, she was invited to collaborate with several fashion houses, gaining experience in the world of haute couture.

Alongside her sartorial path, she deepened her artistic research by attending the Academy of Fine Arts, Painting program. From this dual education emerged a distinctive stylistic language, in which the garment becomes a canvas, color becomes narration, and material becomes an expressive medium.

In 1990, she began creating her collections in a small artisanal workshop, embarking on an independent journey in bridal haute couture. In 2002, the Atelier Showroom in Arce was inaugurated, becoming the symbolic home of the maison and marking the official birth of the Mariel Couture brand. From there, the brand grew rapidly, opening boutiques and showrooms in various Italian and international cities, including Rome, Milan, Pescara, Misano Adriatico, Dubai, Doha, Ningbo, Shaoxing, Izmir, and Geneva.

A defining element of the Mariel style is Italian haute tailoring, combined with deep research into materials, embroidery, and craftsmanship techniques. The collections are distinguished by entirely hand-painted details, artistic inspirations rooted in the Renaissance and figurative art, and a refined use of crystals, gemstones, metals, and unconventional materials. Traditional couture techniques are reinterpreted through a modern lens for a contemporary, conscious, and feminine woman.

Mariel Couture collections are presented in the most important fashion contexts in Italy and abroad, between Rome, Milan, Paris, Dubai, and Asia, receiving institutional recognition and awards for female entrepreneurship and creativity. The maison has also been the subject of a university thesis as a successful case study in the haute couture sector.

The work of Marilena Spiridigliozzi has been featured in international publications such as Vogue Sposa, Rendez-Vous de la Mode, Collezioni, and Elle, as well as in television programs and cultural events dedicated to fashion and art.

Alongside fashion, she continues her artistic practice with painting exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Today, Mariel Couture and the lines signed by Marilena Spiridigliozzi are distributed internationally, with a consolidated presence in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, and are recognized for the sartorial and creative excellence of Made in Italy.
